An afternoon spent with the Canal and River Trust in Cheshire to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Anderton Boat Lift – one of the seven wonders of Britain’s waterways. Opened in 1875 it became the world’s first successful boat lift – a feat of Victorian engineering. Our generation needs to support the Trust’s visionary programme to refurbish the Lift and to turn this heritage site into a resource for future generations.
