Speaking today at an international webinar about the mass atrocities committed in Nigeria, David Alton said that the word “genocide” should never be used lightly but that it was irresponsible to ignore the signs of genocide and to challenge the dangerous and self serving suggestion that by remaining silent would contribute to the resolution of the conflict and that by attributing the massacres and killings to other motives was wilful blindness.
