In their YouTube series, “Let’s Talk”, Green Bean Media discussed with me my love of Hong Kong and its people. Their team of Martin Broughton, Gloria Chan, and distinguished veteran journalist, Steve Vines – the longest serving British journalist in Hong Kong – covered a range of key questions. We discussed Mao’s Cultural Revolution; dictatorship v democracy; the destruction of one country, two systems; human rights @HumanRightsCtte and transnational repression – bounties on @Chloe_chc_25 & @carmenkamanlau ; the imprisonment of pro democracy advocates such as Jimmy Lai; the faith and example of Martin Lee & @CardJosephZen and more besides.
My message on concluding my chairmanship of Parliament’s Joint Committee On Human Rights – and the importance of affirming human rights and human dignity. Links to some of the reports published during my tenure as chair.
