Dear David

Thank you for your correspondence of 29 March about the Ahmadiyya Muslim community.

We remain deeply concerned by the continued violence and discrimination faced by the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Pakistan, including these recent reports of the desecration of Ahmadi mosques.

I unreservedly condemn these shocking incidents.

As detailed in my letter of February 2023, I regularly engage with the Government of Pakistan at a senior level on the treatment of Ahmadi Muslims.

The British High Commission in Islamabad also continues to engage with government representatives on the need to ensure the rights and freedoms of Ahmadi Muslims in Pakistan.

I would like to assure you that we will continue our work to protect and promote freedom of religion or belief in Pakistan, including for the Ahmadiyya Muslim community.

Yours sincerely,

LORD (TARIQ) AHMAD OF WIMBLEDON

Minister of State
Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict

Lord David Alton
