- This weekend marks 25 years since the UK joined others and signed the @MineBanTreaty. While in the Commons I served as an officer of the all party group on land mines which was an important player in the campaign to get the U.K. to sign the Treaty. Countless lives have been saved since. But today 59 countries are still affected by landmines, and 15 people are killed or injured every day by these weapons. @MAGsaveslives #MineBan25
- The UK was among the first countries to sign the @MineBanTreaty 25 years ago. The treaty changed the course of history, but there is much more left to be done to tackle this global issue and ensure nobody lives with the risk of landmines. @MAGsaveslives #MineBan25
- Today, from Angola to Zimbabwe, millions of people across 59 countries are still affected by landmines – 25 years since the @MineBanTreaty was adopted. This global issue must stay on the agenda and we must ensure the world is cleared of landmines. @MAGsaveslives #MineBan25
