Attacks on schools in central and northwest Nigeria have increased dramatically – 12 mass abductions took place between December 2020 and early September 2021, in which at least seven students lost their lives and many more are still missing.

According to UNICEF at least 1 million could miss school this year because of insecurity. Schools in vulnerable areas must be better protected

From 25-27 October 2021 Nigeria will be hosting the Fourth International Conference on the Safe Schools initiative in Abuja. This presents a unique and important opportunity to ensure real action.

Please join us in encouraging the UK to urge the Nigerian Government to fully implement and widen the scope of the Safe Schools initiative – not just a commitment in word but in deed.
