U.K. says it welcomes the recommendations made by the UN Special Rapporteur in his report on the situation in Eritrea but fails to say what steps they will take to ensure the UN Security Council supports the work of Dr.Mohamed Babiker.

Question:
To ask Her Majesty’s Government what steps they will take to ensure the UN Security Council supports the work of Mohamed Abdelsalam Babiker, Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Eritrea; and what assessment they have made of the recommendations in his report Tigray Situation Update, published on 3 June. We note and welcome the recommendations made by the UN Special Rapporteur in his report on the situation in Eritrea. We fully support all efforts to fulfil his mandate as stated by the UK’s Ambassador for Human Rights, Rita French, at the 46th Session of the Human Rights Council.
