14 November will mark six months since Zhang Zhan, a former lawyer, travelled to Wuhan, the epicentre of the COVID-19 outbreak, and posted articles about the COVID outbreak on Twitter and YouTube -blocked in China. Following her prison protests there are fears for health.

UK Government admits that it hasn’t raised the case of Chinese citizen journalist and human rights defender Zhang Zhan who disappeared into arbitrary detention five months ago for posting articles on Twitter about Covid 19. Having refused to plead guilty, reports suggest that she is on hunger strike and being forcibly fed.

For 18 years David Alton was a Member of the House of Commons and today he is an Independent Crossbench Life Peer in the UK House of Lords.
