Burma’s Cardinal, Charles Bo excoriates “leaders” who fail in their responsibilities to the country’s people.

Speaking on Sunday, at Yangon’s St. Mary’s Cathedral, the Cardinal said that those who have seized power had “failed in their leadership roles and responsibilities”.

They had sown death and despair in Myanmar by pitting the laws and regulations against the country’s citizens; pitting head against the people’s heart.

He described how over a year and a half a combination of of deaths from Covid-19 accompanied by seven months of civil strife, had ruined many lives, led to disappointment, death and despair to “a long night of silent tears.”

He drew a parallel between pharisaical behaviour and the over riding responsibility to act with a loving spirit m, upholding justice.

“Authenticity is achieved when there is harmony between the head and the heart…,from oppressive governments to the Kingdom of God, from untruth to truth.

Referring to the Burmese military junta’s purchases of weapons from “all over the world” to consolidate its hold on power,” Cardinal Bo told the people of Burma to “arm ourselves with love for one another”.
