May 4th was a great day to be interviewed by Alma Brady for Liverpool Community Radio. May 4th was the anniversary of my election, in 1972, as a 21-year-old student, to represent the Low Hill Ward on Liverpool City Council.
LCR is based in Holt Road which was in my Edge Hill parliamentary constituency and close to my Council Ward.
LCR FM is a new radio station for the city of Liverpool .The broadcast footprints of LCR FM 106.7 FM covers over 200,000 listeners. It is Liverpool’s first and only OFCOM licensed community radio station. It runs a community programme, ‘The New Daily Croissant’ , which broadcasts live between noon and 2pm, Monday to Friday.
It was a great pleasure to answer Alma’s questions on politics, local. national, and international affairs.
Her last question to me was about what qualities voters should be looking for when they go out to elect a new Mayor. I said that they should vote for the candidate who puts the interests of the people before their own interests and gives voice to people whose own voices are frequently unheard.
