Why I oppose a new national lockdown.

Nov 2, 2020 | News

Parliament should insist on an end date to another lockdown and say no to school closures

I oppose an indiscriminate national lock down without an exit strategy and strongly oppose calls to close schools. Taking a wrecking ball to children’s education and the economy is the wrong way forward. We need focused protection for the vulnerable combined with locally decided “tiered” restrictions tailored to meet local circumstances.

Taking away decision making from local communities and from individual citizens is not the way to go and Parliament must say so. Endlessly repeated lockdowns are not the answer.
