Grandma Wong – heroine of Hong Kong

It’s always interesting how terrible crises throw up unlikely heroes and heroines. The story of Grandma Wong (see below) – is a classic example of the fearlessness of which some human beings are capable.


She brings to mind the protester who stood defiantly in front of the Chinese Communist Party tanks in Tiananmen Square.

It’s also instructive how there are also profiteers happy to collaborate and to exploit humanitarian suffering for profit and gain (see below).
